Top Ten 12"s - November 2009

I picked up the old habit of buying new release 12"s again this year. I really enjoy playing them too (unless I have to haul them halfway across the world). And as much as I like the SL3, leaving the house without the laptop is a lot more fun.

Anyway, here's something I didn't think I'd get to do again a few years ago: a top 10 list of current 12" releases. From disco to house to techno there's a little bit of everything, some are brand new and some have been in heavy rotation for a while now. As far as I know all of them are available in the usual digital stores as well.

1. Downtown Party Network: Heart Break Dancing (preview)
New one by the Days Like These -guys and just as good.
2. Azari & III: Hungry For The Power (Myspace)
Much hyped vocal house tune from Toronto, out now on Cliché. Worth every bit of the hype.
3. Duck Sauce: The Motion
ANYway is good, The Motion is even better. Out on Fool's Gold in August/September.
4. Holy Ghost!: I Will Come Back (DJ Mehdi Remix) (192VBR)
Pretty damn smooth. Someone please send me the white label that was out there for a second.
5. Helsinki 78-82: So Lifelike
Forthcoming on our Nightrunners label.
6. 6th Borough Project: Do It To The Max (YT)
Such a classy vibe.
7. Major Ernie: Pon De Girls Floor (320)
Bird Peterson's simple Major Lazer / Ernie K Doe blend works.
8. DJ Tahara: S.O.U.R. Time
Killer Love To The World cut-up by one of the Ulticut Ups dudes.
9. Walter Jones: I'll Keep On Loving You (Myspace)
Smooth DFA niceness from New Orleans producer.
10. Uggla: Sommartid (Youtube)
Old Swedish disco pop jam that's having a big revival here this summer. Hold tight, I just might post it sometime soon.

I've been too damn busy getting my stuff together for the Japan trip tomorrow- not too busy to compile the monthly top 10 though. Here's a real random list of songs I've been really feeling lately, from R&B to dancehall to UK funky to minimal house to whatnot... and some cool DL's too.

The OG version with the Ne-Yo beat still murders, the remake not so much.
